The International Centennial Neuroimmunology Lectures Meeting promoted and organized jointly by AIM - National Association of Myasthenia and Immunodegenerative Diseases and the IRCCS Foundation “Carlo Besta” Neurological Institute intends to become a biennial event to take stock of the perspectives of neuroimmunology research in Italy, in Europe and in the world.
Among the peculiarities of this event there is the post-congress availability of the main contents, exhibited so as to present the state of progress in the field of research on pathologies and topics that will be treated this year: Multiple Sclerosis, Myasthenia Gravis and Neuromuscular disorders related to it, the correlation between neuroinflammation and neurodegneration of different origins. The Meeting is an opportunity to exchange know-how and to create further synergies among experts because, as indicated by the European Commission and as defined for ERN - European Reference Network, scientific cooperation does not and will never have walls and indeed it is also open to patient associations. We have at our side Scientific Societies, Research Institutes, Ethics Committees, Patient’s and Citizens’ Associations. The Neuroimmunology Lectures begin this year during the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the I.R.C.C.S. Institute “Carlo Besta” and in a historical period in which the figure of the researcher and the scientific data have more and more need to be properly known and recognized both nationally and internationally.
Intertwining continuity and changes in the laws and context had to be understood with the utmost care, it is essential to confront and keep high the value of medical research, transnational databases and maintain harmony and synergies among Healthcare Professionals, Clinical Research Professionals (biomedical researchers, statisticians, study coordinator, data manager, research nurses etc.) and present the quality of multi-center teams that are increasingly differentiated in their specific composition in order to achieve significant and competitive results.
Furthermore, the next few years will be characterized by important challenges: the availability of new technologies, the management of data with the European Research Cloud, the need to join forces and contain costs, improving the quality of cooperation, the possibility of enhance real-life scientific information available and today only marginally used, the increase in structured and transparent collaborations
between academic and industrial research.
The two days of November 23rd and 24th are a moment of sharing, of growth that translates into synergies of scientific progress and benefits for the
Italian, European and International Health System. In Italy, for example, the Parliamentary approval of the Lorenzin Law Decree 1324/3868 presupposes the definition of Implementing Decrees on numerous critical aspects of clinical trials.
These and other topics of relevant scientific relevance are discussed in the various Sessions with the participation of authoritative representatives of Institutions, Research Institutes, General and Health Departments of Hospitals, Ethics Committees, Associations of Patients, Industry, Contract Research Organizations.
With the hope of seeing you in Milan.
